While Tesla is known for its electric cars, there are some interesting rumors circulating about the company turning its attention to another mobility-focused product, smartphones.

Tesla Model P

Here’s everything we know so far about the mysterious Tesla Model P, including its rumored release date of late 2022 and mid-2023.

Project

The Tesla Pi phone can measure 156.8 x 72.1 x 7.6 in height, width and thickness. It will weigh around 202 grams.

Exhibition

Tesla may use an OLED screen for the Pi phone’s 6.7-inch screen. They had a screen resolution of 1284 x 2778 pixels. The Pi phone has a pixel density of 458 PPI and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Scratch-resistant glass and an oleophobic coating should provide protection for the Pi Phone.

connectivity
The Tesla Pi phone has dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6e.
It supports GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS and has Bluetooth connectivity with V 5.2, A2DP and LE.

Cameras

Tesla Pi phones have a triple rear camera array with 50MP resolution across all planes. Dual-pixel PDAF, dual-tone LED flash, HDR (photo/panorama), ProRes, Cinema mode and stereo sound recording are all available on the rear cameras. It has a single 40MP punch hole camera on the front.
It has features like HDR and gyro-EIS.

Performance

Tesla created its own microprocessor, called the Tesla processor, for the Tesla Pi phone. Tesla used its own Tesla GPU for the GPU. NVMe storage is used in the Pi phone.

Battery

There aren’t many specifics about the Pi Phone’s battery, however, it’s believed to be 5000 mAh.

Price
There is no word on the pricing yet, but it is believed to cost between $300-$400.

Among all the rumors, Tesla is rumored to include solar panels inside the gadget so it can charge without electricity. Using Tesla’s existing solar technology also makes sense since it is in line with the company’s environmentally conscious image.

Of course, whether solar charging technology is capable of keeping a phone charged all day, especially when the phone itself spends most of its time in a pocket or bag, is another matter.

There are also plausible reports of the Pi interacting closely with Tesla vehicles, offering better control over settings and functions while driving.

There are also several claims that the Model Pi will use Musk’s SpaceX Starlink service. This is essentially fast satellite-based broadband that should serve many places where 5G is hesitant to venture out. Satellite phones are available these days, but they are incredibly expensive to use compared to regular LTE cell phones, so Tesla would need some work if it wanted to bring the Model Pi to the public.
