
Peshawar’s commissioner has ordered doping tests of students in schools, colleges and universities in the capital Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to informed sources, health workers and other concerned departments will visit educational institutions and conduct dope tests of the students.
“The process will start in September and whoever tests positive will be shifted to rehabilitation centres,” he said.
A gang selling drugs to students has already been busted, raising alarm bells among officials to crack down on peddlers.
In a similar move to control drug use among students, the Punjab government has decided to ban students using drugs and intoxicating cigarettes from university admissions in first class.
It was found that students who are addicted to drugs and smoking to prevent drug use among the younger generation will not be admitted to colleges in the first year of study.
