A special court on Monday dismissed a plea filed by the Mumbai police seeking cancellation of bail granted to independent MLA Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana in connection with the Hanuman Chalisa. Navneet Rana, Member of Lok Sabha from Amravati, Maharashtra, and Ravi Rana, Member of Parliament from Badnera, Amravati, were arrested by the Mumbai Police on April 23 after they announced the recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa outside Matushree, the private residence of the Chief Minister then.
