- Vodafone-Idea clears the air about its 5G rollout in Delhi

- The country’s 5G rollout plans have yet to be announced by Vi
The national capital of Delhi does not yet have 5G services, according to Vodafone India. As a result, a Vodafone customer care representative miscommunicated with a customer that 5G services are only available in the nation’s capital. Times of India Tech was informed that this information is incorrect by Vodafone in a statement.
Vodafone Idea CEO Akshaya Moondra said earlier that 5G services would be rolled out in India over the next few years without specifying a timeline. Meanwhile, some people on Twitter had reported getting a message which said “upgrade to Vodafone 5G,” but it later turned out to be a scam.
Is there no Vi 5G in India?
According to our earlier report, Vodafone-Idea (Vi) is having financial difficulties and still has not set up a base station for its 5G services in India. Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel are Vi’s competitors who have already installed tens of thousands of base stations. To ensure a smooth and fast transition to the latest telecom services, the Indian government has also instructed telecom operators to install 10,000 base stations every week.
Vi is pushing forward with an ambitious plan to roll out 5G services soon. At the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022, Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, Kumar Mangalam Birla, expressed optimism about establishing a 5G ecosystem in India. Vi also wants to prioritize their rural user base which is estimated to be as large as 50 percent of its total 240 million active users.
Rivals such as Jio and Airtel, on the other hand, have already launched their 5G services in 78 and 22 cities, respectively.
