KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced the closure of schools and colleges for two days on August 24-25 due to heavy rains, ARY News reported on Tuesday.
The two-day holiday was announced for schools and colleges by the Sindh government after heavy rains in the entire province.
District Education Minister Sardar Shah announced that schools will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday after the rains.
PDM cost forecast
Parts of Sindh will receive heavy rains from today (Tuesday) for two days as a fresh depression moves into the district from India today.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in various parts of Sindh including Karachi in the next 48 hours under the influence of fresh monsoon.
MET office manager Sardar Sarfaraz said the fresh monsoon will bring rain to Sindh and Balochistan.
He said that few parts of Karachi are expected to receive moderate to heavy rains from August 24-25. Khairpur, Larkana, Sukkur, Ghotki, Kashmore, Jacobabad will also receive rain today.
From August 23 to 26, the northeastern and southern parts of Baluchistan will receive rain. Heavy rains in Balochistan may cause floods in Dadu, Jamshoro and Qambar-Shahdadkot, the PMD said in its weather advisory.
Floods are expected today in Qilla Saifullah, Loralai, Barkhan, Kohlu, Musa Khel, Sherani, Sibbi, Bolan, Dera Ghazi Khan mountain river, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Dir, Karak and Lakki Marwat, he added.
