Seven killed, 10 injured in Khairpur roof collapse

Islamabad: At least seven people were killed and about 10 injured when the roof of a mosque collapsed in the Khairpur district of Sindh province on Monday.

According to reports, this incident occurred due to heavy rains in the Ahmadpur district of this district early on Monday morning, and more than 100 people, including women and children, were trapped under the rubble.

Aid officials said the victims were sleeping in the mosque at the time of the tragedy.

The victims were flood-affected local residents who took refuge in the mosque as their homes were damaged by the flood.

According to the rescuers, rescuers arrived at the scene and took the injured to a local hospital.

Several accidents have occurred in the area due to heavy rainfall over the past four days.
