Google is one of the most recent smartphone makers in India to give users access to 5G networks. An update was scheduled to launch in December, but that has since been put off. Still, reports are claiming that people who have installed the Android 13 QPR2 Beta 2 update on Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 can link up with Jio and Airtel’s 5G services. Be aware though, this is a beta version and the official stable form will likely be made available to all customers in the near future.

Those who have installed the latest Android 13 QPR2 Beta 2 update on their Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones in India can connect to Jio and Airtel 5G networks, according to a report by TelecomTalk. The Pixel 6a is also equipped with the same chipset as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

Users can test the 5G network on Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro by installing the latest beta update. Nevertheless, the beta update may affect the device’s overall functionality if it is being used as a primary smartphone. As well as Pixel smartphone users in India, it is a significant development for telecom operators that provide 5G services. They would want their customers to be able to use 5G if their customers have 5G phones.

GSMArena confirmed in a statement that Google’s smartphones will support 5G networks in India with an upcoming update. The company promised a 5G-enabled OTA update to arrive sometime in Q1 2023. According to the statement, the company is working closely with Indian carriers to ensure next-generation connectivity while adhering to local standards and regulations.

Google had previously announced that it would launch 5G support for eligible Pixel smartphones in India in the first quarter of 2023. “We have been actively working with Indian carriers on the various requirements that go into provisioning 5G and are excited to introduce it to Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel 6a in Q1 2023,” Google reportedly said then.

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are powered by the latest Tensor G2 SoC, while the Pixel 6 lineup uses the first-generation Tensor SoC. Thanks to a recent beta software update, users can now reap the benefits of low-latency 5G with faster download and upload speeds. Of all of Google’s 5G smartphones in India, the most budget-friendly is the Pixel 6a, which is equipped with 19 5G bands. Additionally, both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro boast 22 5G bands, ensuring optimal indoor and outdoor coverage for all three models. Unfortunately, none of them support mmWave 5G bands that provide ultra-high upload and download speeds.
