There will be a total lunar eclipse on Tuesday – the last in three years

The next total lunar eclipse happens in three years from now and it might be a good idea to check this one out because it won’t happen again for another two years.

the beginning of the eclipse will start at 3:02 am ET. The full moon enters at 5:17 am ET and will last for about an hour and a half.

The solar eclipse will be visible for people in North America, Central America, Colombia and western Venezuela and Peru. There are different stages of the eclipse that can either be viewed from Alaska or from Hawaii.

A dark room with few artificial lights is best for good vision.

A solar eclipse happens when the Earth, Sun and Moon are aligned. During a total solar eclipse, the moon moves completely into the planet’s shadow.

The full moon looks red during this phenomenon, which is dubbed the “blood moon”. During a lunar eclipse, the little light that reaches the moon has to pass through Earth’s atmosphere – which can make it look reddish. The more cloud cover or dust there is in the atmosphere, the redder the moon appears.

It’s as if all the sunrises and sunsets in the world are projected onto the Moon,” NASA said.
