Vivo’s Y-series phones are expanding with new budget devices every few days. The latest to join this family is the Y22, which has just been made official in Vietnam at a cheap price. It is not known if the phone will be launched internationally, but since the Y series is popular in Pakistan, it is possible that it will make its way here as well.
It starts with the display, a 6.55-inch IPS LCD display with a thick bottom bezel and a teardrop notch for the selfie camera. It’s a 720p display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 530 nits. It covers 70% of the NTSC color spectrum and the fingerprint sensor is placed above the power button.
Internal parts and storage
On the inside, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, and you can add more with a microSD card. There’s no word on whether the phone will be available in other storage configurations.
For software, you have Android 12 OS on top of Vivo Funtouch 12 OS.
cameras
The main camera settings are quite simple. It includes just two sensors, a 50-megapixel main camera with a wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel macro camera for close-up shots. The camera is capable of recording 1080p video, but not 4K clips. There is no optical image stabilization (OIS) or laser autofocus.
The teardrop notch selfie camera is an 8-megapixel camera that can also record 1080p videos.
Battery and price
The phone doesn’t hold back on battery capacity as it packs a 5,000mAh power cell with 18W fast charging support.
The Vivo Y22s will be available in Dark Blue and Green Yellow colors for $256 in Vietnam.
